KINDOFSPACE

Set within the historic centre of Bolzano, Parkhotel Mondschein brings together more than seven centuries of architectural history within a carefully restrained renovation. Redesigned by Christina Biasi von Berg and her team at Studio Biquadra, the hotel balances the atmosphere of its medieval origins with a quieter, contemporary approach to hospitality and interior design.

Despite the scale of the building, many of the spaces feel deliberately understated. The corridors remain wide and almost monastic, the rooms restrained in colour and material, while the garden introduces a softness that offsets the weight of the historic architecture. Rather than competing with the building’s history, the interiors allow it to remain present.

The oldest part of the building dates back to 1320, when it operated as one of the first guesthouses in Bolzano. Over the centuries, the property changed hands many times and gradually absorbed different architectural periods, carrying names such as Manschein, Munschein and Luna before becoming what is now known as Parkhotel Mondschein.

In 2021, brothers Klaus and Moritz Dissertori took over the hotel, adding Parkhotel Mondschein to a portfolio that already included several properties across South Tyrol. Today, the hotel includes 60 rooms and 16 suites, a restaurant located inside what was once Bolzano’s oldest tavern, a yoga studio set within vaulted medieval spaces, and a garden that feels unusually expansive for the centre of the city.
